How do I use Sports Academy MOVE?

SA MOVE provides a daily workout that includes physical and cognitive exercises. Your weekly workout schedule is dictated by your institution, and sometimes will have some flexibility. On days when you have a workout scheduled, running the workout is simple, just click DO TODAY’S WORKOUT. Prior to doing any workout, you can preview the exercises that are slated for that day, by swiping right and left on them.

How is my program put together?

Your program each day is set by experts in physical and cognitive training, in consultation with your institution. Depending on your goals, age, and sport, you will receive unique exercises. The duration of your program—how many days you have workouts each week, and for how many weeks your program lasts—is determined by your institution.

What is the physical training like?

Using the latest science of physical training, SA MOVE helps students build the right foundational strength and movements, which will help them succeed at becoming healthy young adults and skilled athletes.

However, because athletes develop at different stages, SA MOVE’s curriculum is specifically tailored to each student. All programs are based on the latest evidence-based research in order to help students become the best athlete they can be. If a particular movement or exercise is too difficult for a student, they have the option to skip it.

The daily physical training will take 30 or 45 minutes, depending on grade level (as mandated by school districts).

What is the cognitive training like?

SA MOVE’s cognitive training offers the best of both worlds. Students can train from home, on their phone, completing game-style tasks that are fun and engaging. Those games, though, simultaneously equip them with the mental tools necessary to thrive in both sports other areas of life.

These include drills that improve reaction time, hand-eye coordination, information processing, inhibition control, and memory capacity. As older students advance into specific sports, access to additional sport-specific content will be made available. These include tasks to recognize pitch types in baseball and softball; anticipate hits in volleyball; and much more.

Elite athletes do not just possess elite athleticism. They also possess elite perceptual and cognitive skills. They anticipate opponents more quickly. They react to situations more quickly. They recognize patterns and know what must be done next. These skills come from logging thousands of repetitions. Just like your body needs reps in the gym, your brain needs reps on the important decisions. Now more than ever, it is important to get those repetitions in, and you can do so from home as an SA MOVE member
